Material Handling: Designed To Stand Above The Rest
Riekes Material Handling and Cubic Designs have been providing mezzanine solutions for many years. Mezzanine systems add a second or third level inside a facility and thereby double or triple the existing space. Typically, mezzanines are used to create new production, office, storage or assembly space, locker rooms, parts departments, stockrooms, cafeterias, stockrooms, company records storage and work platforms. Mezzanine systems can be installed inside manufacturing and processing plants, warehouses, distribution centers, retail stores, office buildings, industrial plants, hospitals, automotive dealerships, universities, government facilities and more.
Mezzanines allow you to gain the space you need without building a new facility or expanding outward. Think of a mezzanine as the solution that helps you expand within. They can be installed inside any facility that has a ceiling height greater than 15 feet. If you have more than 30 feet of overhead space, a multi-level mezzanine can be built to meet your exact area and height requirements.
Advantages of Mezzanine Systems:
- Help maximize existing plant space.
- Create more square footage without expanding your facility.
- Double or triple the existing space inside your facility.
- Accommodate lighting, sprinkler pipe, HVAC ducts, electrical and computer conduit.
- Can be designed to meet your exact space requirements.
- Can be modified to meet future growth needs and planned expansion.
- Improve inventory management & control.
- Can be customized to fit around existing equipment, building columns and other obstructions - even around angled and curved walls.
- Often incorporate wide spans & unique column spacing to free up valuable floor space.
- Available in shelving supported, full mat and freestanding designs.
- Integrate with shelving, rack, vertical lifts, carousels, flow rack, in-plant offices, conveyors, more.
- Can be disassembled and moved to another location
- See many Project/Application Pictures >>
Often times, a mezzanine system provides the best space adding solution - especially when compared to new construction or leased space.
Savings with Mezzanines: ( vs. New Construction or Leased Space)
- Additional energy costs (heat, air conditioning, electricity)
- Land acquisition costs
- Property taxes and insurance premiums
- May qualify for accelerated tax depreciation (one-time investment).

Packaging: Up-Gauge Your Stretch Film and Up-Grade Your Film Savings:
Certainly you've heard, "Our new thinner film will wrap your loads just like that old thick film". And to be sure, film technology has improved dramatically and allows us to use less film to achieve excellent results. The problem is, however, that a lot of film users have down-gauged so much that they are wasting time and money by applying endless revolutions of inadequate film! Upgauging your stretch film can reduce: product damage, film cost, labor costs, downtime / improve productivity with real examples and numbers. At Riekes, we can test your loads and wrapping methods to see if you are truly getting the savings you expect and deserve.
Think differently – Here's how you get the lowest cost effectively shipped load:
thicker film => higher force to load => fewer revolutions
produces these results:
- reduced damage
- reduced downtime / improve productivity
- reduced labor and labor costs
- reduced film cost
all by using thicker film
See Results of 2 Examples – Gauge Comparisons »
What do we see in the field?
- very few customers have established standards on how to wrap their products
- if there is a standard…they are seldom wrapping to the standard
- many customers are not getting the film savings they were promised
What are the steps in establishing proper stretch wrapping standards?
- Establish a containment force baseline
- a. top of load
- b. middle of load
- c. bottom of load
- Select film quality and gauge
- Select pre-stretch level
- Establish wrap force
- Establish number of revolutions
